What is Methode Traditionnelle?

Methode Traditionelle is a French winemaking term that refers to how quality sparkling wine is made. Literally translated, it means traditional method. I chose this as my blog title because traditional sparkling wine production will be discussed, and it captures the spirit of a blog about sparkling wine!

Methode Traditionnelle is a blog dedicated to reviewing sparkling wines from wine regions all over the world. I will choose sparkling wines that are available in the LCBO. With the exception of one personal favourite, the wines will be inexpensive, in hopes that everyone will be able to enjoy them!

I have always loved sparkling wine. There does not need to be a special celebration in order to enjoy it, and it does not have to break the bank either.  When I began my wine education, I was intrigued from the start by the elegant bubbles in my glass. The experience of smelling, tasting and enjoying sparkling was thrilling to me. There are many complexities in the production, depending on where in the world it comes from. Sparkling is a beverage that is globally recognized as one of the finest wines - and is very different depending on what region you are talking about. In the pursuit of sparkling wine, there is always more to learn – and taste! It just keeps getting better and better…

My goal is to share my passion for wines that I love. I hope you relax, sip and enjoy!

  1. My mouth is already watering. I love sparkling wine, but don't know the first thing about how to tell a good bottle from a bad bottle. I'm looking forward to learning some quality tips about sparkling wines. Perhaps you could also give the class a tasting...?
